Cooney Architects won this competition for the proposed restoration of a once thriving village attached to the now derelict Mullan flax mill in 2000. The project includes the restoration of the village green, and the provision of a new town square and community buildings with childcare and tourism facilities. Sustainable uses and a unique approach to the project were used in the planning of this 'eco village'. The first phase of this development including the conservation of the Red Row, White Row and the first stage of the new build housing is nearing completion.
