The once vibrant racetrack site at the Bawnogues-Kilcock, provides the opportunity for a new community centre. The Bawnogues racetrack site is a modern community amenity and sports park, serving the local community.
Through careful consultation and immersion, we identified an opportunity to place the building in a strategic location, taking advantage of natural walking paths, circulation routes and adjoining buildings, aiming to create a sense of space in a large open site. A long low-lying wall is intended to engage the building with the surrounding undulating landscape and provides shelter and entry to the building.
The proposed community centre is 1 & 2 storey in nature, and caters for a range of multi-purpose spaces, from the smaller more intermit activities to the larger group activities such as concerts and basketball. The plan aims to utilise impromptu breakout areas along circulation routes for the casual passing catch-up with neighbours and friends.
